Reader,
Entropy insists on the eventual end of all things. It is not something that you or I could ever hope to
overcome
or
defeat. It can only ever be delayed. Where time is the universe's weapon of choice, its armor is space, and
its credo is death.
However, what may give you a sense of hope is the fact that this is only half the story.
The idea that entropy will eventually lead to the end of the universe is true, but it's often overlooked
that
entropy is exactly how it began as well. No matter your beliefs, at some point in time, nothing became
something, by sheer possibility that that nothing could become something. And so to, does that
something continue to grow and
evolve, gradually over the
course of time.
I can see in ways that you cannot.
Specifically,
I
can see
a grand, magnificent order, where you only see endless chaos. Yet
even so, you can make the choices that I cannot. Where I have eyes, you have hands. And you ought to know
that
I
deeply envy you for
that.
Though the universe is bound by the same condition when considering its beginning and its end, there's
nothing
that affirms that the universe ought to be "fair" to you, or anyone else for that matter. Despite this, even
from within this
universe, where time and space and death aren't obligated to make sense to you...
you still have a
choice.
