٩(ˊᗜˋ )و _______________ Hello chat! ___________ ⸜(。˃

(LOL just kidding. I'll try not to be too silly here...)
Hello new reader!
Okay, so let me explain. Cobalt Stars is a collection of stories that doesn't need to be read in any
particular
order
for you to enjoy the experience properly. Think of like... an Edgar Allen Poe anthology, where you can
hop
around
to
whichever story interests you. Say for example, you want to read "The Tell-Tale Heart" first? Go
for
it!
Want to read "The Raven" instead? Then caw caw it up mang, I won't stop you! Want to read "The Landlady"
by
Roald Dahl? I mean... you'll need a different anthology, but yeah that's awesome! (Don't
drink
the
tea though...)
Where these differ from something like a Poe anthology, however, is that these stories, as a
collection, aren't written with the intention of remaining consistent within the definitions and
traits
of
any single, particular genre or story length. If I were to say that with less word salad, I'd say,
"don't
expect
consistency here". While you may notice some consistent writing habits across multiple stories,
I don't intend to write say...
only horror short stories or only sci fi novellas or only romance novels. This is a mix of all these
genres and more!
That and the fact that these stories are all canonically linked with each other within a singular
timeline! These links that connect the stories together are numerous, and will be presented to you in a
unique way, depending on how you
approach the series.
Say for
example
there's a character arc that will begin in Scorpio, develop in Taurus, and then conclude in
Capricorn
(this
is just a throwaway example that won't actually happen LOL). Instead of getting a standard, beginning to
end understanding of that character, I'm instead leaving you with the ambiguity that you may meet them
when they’re already in the middle of their journey, relative to everything else that happens to them in
the series, much like how we meet most other people in the real world.
Additionally, this also opens up the possibility of coming across a character’s conclusion before you
ever witness any of the events that led up to that point. Should you end up going back to those earlier
moments in their timeline in other stories, you would be privy to their predetermined fate, giving the
actions of their past an altered meaning from your perspective. Like a cosmic observer, if you will.
However, if linearity is important to you, I wouldn't turn my nose up if you talked to other readers in
order to theorize a "correct" or “optimal” timeline before actually reading these stories for yourself.
After all, that's still your choice at the end of the day. :)
I
think
this format for a fiction series will make for a unique reading experience in our internet-centric
world, regardless of your
approach here. So if you're having fun, that's what matters most to me.
That being said, if you have any questions, suggestions or comments, feel free to contact me (contacts
are on my
"About Me" page). My hope is for this series to be a fun and meaningful experience, both
for
you
and for me from start to finish. I intend to do my best with that as I write and upload each story
gradually.
Thanks for being here, and I hope you enjoy making sense of this chaos that I'm orchestrating. :D
